The 2024 Florida International Trade and Cultural Expo (FITCE) in Fort Lauderdale brought an array of entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and innovators together under one roof to once again expand South Florida’s position as an international business hub. From October 23-24, the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development chose to focus on manufacturing and tourism this year, offering sessions, workshops, and networking events centered on these topics. Attendees were offered invaluable tools to grow their business practices beyond U.S. borders, allowing opportunities for both cultural and trade partnerships.
In recent years, FITCE has gained recognition as a key platform for business expansion, exploring new markets, and increasing international sales. Participants are also provided with actionable knowledge, introducing them to new markets and creating key networking opportunities. This year brought in leaders from industries such as fashion, teaching, and food, who filled the Greater Fort Lauderdale / Broward County Convention Center, eager to gain insight into global business practices and strategic alliances.
Empowering Businesses to Expand Globally
FITCE has helped South Florida Businesses expand their reach with international markets, dedicated to their mission of facilitating and promoting global trade opportunities. Each year, business owners are connected with essential resources to navigate the complex international markets as they eye global expansion.
Diana Alava, Founder of VÊTU Boutique in Boca Raton, is a prime example of someone who made the most out of this year's event. After successfully expanding her boutique to Boca Raton from its original location in Stuart, Florida, Diana is now looking to bring VÊTU to new cities across the globe. At FITCE, she showcased her brand’s unique approach to fashion which emphasizes community-building. Alava has done this through in-store events with local celebrities and philanthropic efforts such as toy drives and donation-based sales.
When reflecting on the benefits FITCE provided to her business goals, Diana stated, “FITCE has been invaluable in connecting me with other entrepreneurs who share a passion for expanding their brands while making a positive impact. This event has opened up potential partnerships that can help us bring VÊTU’s vision to new markets worldwide.”

A Launchpad for Innovation and Cultural Exchange
With each year, FITCE continues to draw in more innovators with remarkable stories, and this year was no exception. Inventors filled the expo displaying a wide array of products and ideas poised to make an impact across numerous industries, all drawing light to FITCE’s strong commitment to fostering a beneficial space for innovation. Here, visionary entrepreneurs can showcase creations while gaining valuable feedback from a global audience.
Darin Gull, Director of Business Development at C3 Complete, exhibited this year and shared his enthusiasm about the event’s impact on his company’s goals. “We chose to exhibit at FITCE as it was a great value for a two-day show and helped expand our client base in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean,” said Gull. “Over the two days, we made several connections that could lead to opportunities around the country as well. It exceeded our expectations.”
Another standout innovator from Fitce was former MMA fighter Bautista Esnaola’s deeply personal journey with his company Ecoverse. His creation utilizes virtual reality (VR) to transport users to environments that promote relaxation and mental clarity for stress relief and productivity. Esnaola’s approach, inspired by his experiences with meditation, represents a solution that perfectly aligns with today's fast-paced, technology-driven world.
Cultural Showcase: A Glimpse into Global Traditions
Over the years, FITCE has solidified itself as a celebration of global culture and traditions. Guests are treated to performances, artistic showcases, and exhibitions featuring traditional attire and global handmade crafts. Here, South Florida locals can deepen their understanding of unique costumes that enrich global business relations while experiencing the beauty and diversity of different cultures.
The Taiwan Sister Cities (TSC) initiative has regularly participated in FITCE since 2021. TSC attends the event each year to strengthen its relationships between the U.S. and Taiwan. Kuan Lee, Secretary of Taiwan Sister Cities, praised FITCE saying, “Every year, we meet new potential partners and expand our network throughout the world. This year we displayed a snack product from Ping Tung County, Taiwan, and connected with local food distributors in Broward County.” He added, “Because of our success, we’ve met representatives from Central and South America and Europe, and we look forward to participating in next year’s FITCE.”
Focusing on Key Industries: Manufacturing and Tourism
The emphasis on manufacturing and tourism this year attracted professionals from various sectors eager to learn about the latest trends, technologies, and opportunities for international collaboration. Sessions addressed topics such as global supply chain management, sustainable manufacturing practices, and emerging tourism markets, leaving attendees with a clear vision on how to increase sales on the international scale.
The sessionals also provided insights into trends shaping travel and hospitality, one of Florida’s largest economic drivers.
FITCE also explored ways to attract international tourists and create experiences catered to their ever-changing preferences. These insights have helped business owners position themselves as leaders in international tourism by aligning their practice with global expectations.
Strengthening South Florida’s Role in International Trade
For 9 years, FITCE has contributed to South Florida’s importance as a gateway to international markets. The Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development continues to reinforce South Florida’s position as a premier location for trade, commerce, and cultural exchange through the annual event.
They continually strive to create an environment where entrepreneurs are supported as they take on the daunting task of expanding globally. Local business owners can tap into new markets with confidence through the expo’s resources and supportive network developed through the event.
Looking Ahead
Each year, FITCE continues connecting South Florida businesses with international opportunities that drive economic growth.
The 2024 expo’s emphasis on manufacturing and tourism provided invaluable insights for attendees in these industries, preparing them for success in a dynamic global market. For many participants, FITCE serves as a springboard, opening doors to new opportunities and strengthening South Florida’s ties with international communities.
FITCE goes beyond traditional business expos by creating a space where entrepreneurs can spread their brand to make a positive impact. FITCE provides a platform where entrepreneurs can build connections and gain the insights needed to succeed on a global stage.
With the conclusion of this year’s edition, FITCE 2024 has proven once again to be a key event for businesses looking to expand their network and reach. In years to come, the expo will continue to provide businesses with opportunities for cultural exchange and collaboration, pointing to an even more impactful future for FITCE.
