Interview with Ingvild Deila, actress in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
I had just started acting and felt really out of my depth! But everyone was so welcoming and lovely to be around. It was great to meet and chat with Robert Downey Jr., whose work I admire. The set was huge and very busy, like an ant colony, but it didn't feel frantic. And Joss Whedon is a relaxed and friendly director to work with.
What are the characteristics of the movie that you value most? What parts of the movies do you like most?
Tony Stark's witty comments, the dynamic between the Hulk and Black Widow, and the great action sequences.
Tell us about your character.
I play a Norwegian World Hub technician, who has a chat with Tony Stark as he works his magic on one of the computers looking for Jarvis.
Can you share with us a funny episode that happened during the filming of the movie?
Well, one thing was the level of secrecy when working on a Marvel film. I wasn't 100% sure that it was “Avengers: Age of Ultron” I was working on, until the driver asked me on my way there if I was looking forward to working on Age of Ultron. I pretended like I already knew, and said yes.
Also, as I got on set for my scene there was a moment where I mistook Robert Downey Jr.'s body double for him! They look very similar. But in a way that was a good thing, as it was almost like a warm up to meet the actual Downey. It was my first time on a big budget set, so I was very nervous. But I had no reason to worry, everyone was so lovely to work with.
What were the main difficulties you encountered while making this film?
There weren't any difficulties really, other than the initial nerves. I guess one technical challenge was to figure out the right kind of accent. I asked Joss Whedon how thick my Norwegian accent should be, and he replied: 'So thick we'll need subtitles!'
What do you expect from the movie in the franchise, “Avengers: Infinity War”?
It will be interesting to see how characters from Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange will get along with the Avengers.
