Interview with Julia Krynke, actress in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

How would you describe your experience on the set of “Avengers: Age of Ultron”?

It has been the biggest set I have been working on so far.  There were thousands of extras in the Sokovia scenes, and amazing special effects… so many explosions! You could really feel that you were part of a big movie production. We were filming in the Hendon area in London. I remember- there was a little church built just for the needs of the movie. Part of it was blown up during the shoot.

What are the things that you like most, about this movie?

I especially value the archetypes that appear there, with which young audience can identify. Positive characters like Captain America or Thor can become role models for children, especially if they don’t have them in their own environment. These superheroes can help them find their personal strength, awaken their imagination, allow them to dream about more than the reality they experience. I believe that when watching these kinds of films, where good always wins, certain mindsets become imprinted and hardwired into the psyche of children. Later on, in their lives it can have a great positive influence on them, on how they will develop emotionally, and how they will act in the future if they learn empathy. Also, the film is a great alternative to the often quite brutal video games that are so popular these days.

Tell us about your character.

In “Avengers: Age of Ultron” I play the character of a convertible driver, a woman who wants to escape Sokovia. When she is in her car on the bridge, it suddenly collapses. She is falling into the abyss and is terrified. Just about as she is going to die, she is rescued by Thor and Captain America.

Can you share with us a funny episode that happened during filming?

When I came to the casting, I didn’t know what production it was for, as it was strictly confidential.  My agent didn’t know either. He just said it was a big comic film. The same happened with the recall - I still didn’t know what movie I was auditioning for. I finally found out that it was “Avengers: Age of Ultron” when the costume department gave me a call. I couldn’t believe it!

What were the main difficulties you encountered while making this film?

The stunts were most difficult for me. I had a couple of rehearsals with stuntmen to get used to wearing a harness and being on the heights. I had to learn certain positions in which I had to be while falling and then flying, after being thrown by Thor. I still remember hanging around 20 meters above the ground on some sort of crane, and being surrounded by huge green screens.

What do you expect from the chapter of the franchise, “Avengers: Infinity War”?

It is going to be very exciting - 40 superheroes interacting with each other and fighting! It is going to be bigger than any previous Marvel superhero movie. They are going to battle their most powerful enemy yet. The fate of the planet has never been more uncertain.
