Tv series 'Private Eyes', interview with author Gare Joyce: 'Write what you know'

First I have to say kind words about the folks behind Private Eyes—Jason is not just a performer but a real champion for Canadian TV. EOne rows with both oars in the water and Shawn Pillar and Lloyd Segan, executive producers, also have been great not just for me but hundreds of people who work on Private Eyes and other series they’ve got on the air. My good luck aside, It’s an exciting time in the business. There’s all kinds of creative talent here. Our scale of business doesn’t compare with Hollywood but that just requires you think inventively, outside the box. Canada has an incredible representation in the comedy industry—true going back to Saturday Night Live and SCTV. And everybody knows somebody—John Candy grew up as the neighbour of my friend in East York and comedians like Norm Macdonald and Jim Carrey performed in clubs I worked in.. Outsiders are comics and we’re outside both the US and Great Britain. We see how ridiculous the big fish are ... we’re laughing minnows.
