You were part of the cast of Griselda. What do you think about the fictionalized story in relation to the origin of the character?

The character I play in Griselda really existed and still lives, what the series tells about his actions and how he ends up seducing the court secretaries over the phone to save his life and Griselda's was true... Although the series does not investigate the origin of the character, when I study his life, it is really suitable for a series or a movie... When we actors have to play "negative" characters we have a great responsibility, and that is to find and connect with a dimension of the character that goes beyond the moral order, a dimension more linked to the esoteric or to a certain perception of the spiritual world.

Shakespeare endowed his villains with these dimensions, something that makes you empathize without judging it. Whenever there is darkness there must be light on the other side. In short, fictional characters are not human beings, they are metaphorical constructions of humanity at the service of a fictional reality. In the end it is a question of perception, we actors play between countenance but then the viewer's perception differs according to each person's life experience.

You are expected to be in the cast of the TV series En el barro, which will be broadcast on Netflix streaming, set in a women's prison, can you tell us about the character Alan that you play?

My character Alan is a prison guard, and when I received the proposal for the character I thought it would be interesting to play a divided subject, I mean, someone like any of us, who must deal with his most primary drives, who fights between his instincts and what he should be, and that excited me, that dramatic identity.

What can viewers expect from the TV series En el barro?

I think they should expect a very well written series with a team of exceptional professionals and a dream cast. You can also expect a lot of action and intrigue in a very
particular universe in a women's prison.

What is your favorite TV series, whether you play in it or not?

Among my favorite series are Narcos, El Marginal, the first season of True Detective, as well as Peaky Blinders which I also really liked...

What are Martín Rodríguez's next projects, if they can be revealed, besides his participation in En el barro? Does he have a character in the drawer that he wants to play and has not yet revealed to the fans?

There is a project in the USA for next year, I can't reveal anything yet but I am very excited about it! As for a character I would like to play, I would like to play someone in a fantastic universe. Right now my priority is En el Barro, and I am very excited by it and very happy with the tremendous team.
